CEREC Crowns

CERECOver the last decade, many technological advances have made it possible to efficiently seat crowns on the same day as your crown preparation.  Rather than waiting up to three weeks for a crown to arrive at our office, we are able prepare and seat the crown in one appointment.

We no longer have to take impressions because a 3-D camera is used to create an accurate virtual model.  Once the pictures are taken, we can outline the margins (where the crown meets the edge of the preparation) and make adjustments to the computer generated crown.

When we are satisfied with the shape and position, we are ready to mill the crown.  The CEREC milling unit is similar to a 3-D printer and uses diamond burs to carve your crown out of a strengthened ceramic block in less than fifteen minutes.  With a few minor adjustments, your crown is seated, dry, and ready for your convenience. The CEREC Blocs and CEREC Blocs PC consist of a finely structured feldspar ceramic material which is biocompatible and resembles natural tooth enamel with regard to shading, strength and abrasion resistance.
